The dealer has run the dye in it and found that it is the head gasket 100%. I am confused in a way b/c how could a truck with 30,000 miles on it already have a head gasket oil leak? They said it was a head gasket leak from the dye test so I guess I will just take it back and tell them to fix all oil leaks. Does that sound like a plan? Does that sound like a plan powerstroke?

Just to let you know about what happend to me when I had a head gasket problem. Under heavy loads, I would puke coolant and have antifreezse leak out of the heads which I could see underneith of the truck after running it hard after a day of work. The coolant guage would goto the H and the engine check light would come on. For the oil leak, I have never had one. Although I hear that when you have a blown head gasket that the coolant will enter into the oil (or vise versa) which will overheat the engine. Again I will say that I only overheated and found out about my headgasket when I was overheating when pulling a load.

Another symptom of leaking collant is the EGR cooler. Exaust gas will heat the collant entering the EGR cooler and will actually cause puking. The hose in the EGR cooler will weaken and being to leak. Also a good idea to replace the EGR hose after doing a headgasket job.

Just an update guys......I took my truck to have the oil leak fixed today. They are going to keep it for this week. He said it was easier for him to pull the motor out than take the body off so he is going to do that. UGHHHHHH I am at a loss of words....I just told him "may the force be with you" What do u guys think?

There is no need to remove the engine or body to repair a headgasket leak. Are you sure it is not a bedplate leak they may be fixing?

i dont know there is an oil leak all down the side of the engine and they say its the head leak. He said ford protocol is to raise the body to get to the head. Instead he said he will pull the engine...its easier to him

Interesting approach I suppose. I'd never even consider removing an engine to replace headgaskets on a pick-up truck.
