I just replaced my cps wuth a used one. now it seams like i go through alot more fuel.....Do you need to time the cps??? Not all the time i smell fuel, cant find a leak but i do get drips on the ground every now and then.
Thanks, Rob
Nope, CPS won't hurt milage but a leak will. Is the leak at the front or rear of the engine? Look in the engine valley for fuel. Remove the plastic filter cover over the filter to expose the valley.
Best bet if you cannot see where it is coming from is use a screw driver and a paper towl clean up all of out of the valley dry it all up and then see which part of the valley fills up then you know the area of the leak. Look for any wet or dripping lines or any thing that is corroded cracked. also more info on the vehicle year and mile would be great, also any recent work besides cps that may or may not have been in the area.
Truck is 1996 F250 has about 110000 miles, other then oil changes no other work has been done.

I just pulled the fuel filter bowl out and replaced three short hoses at the bottom of it and it cured my leak, the hoses were dry rotted. If your leak is affecting your fuel mileage though that is a pretty serious leak. If you can figure out what you see and locate the leak the guy on this sight can talk you through the fix if you are brave enough to delve in.
