Cool not much turbo

hey guys long time wrenchy frist time diesel 97 f-250 7.3 turbo .. it dont seem like much
its laging shifting gears no giddy up .. i checked the turbo it spins no wiggleing or stiffness ..my temp gauge stays near the lower side of n in normal is this normal ? maybe the thermo is stuck open telling the eng its not hot yet .. any tips whats norm. boost for these guys ? thanks mike

stock the most you will see is the upper teens and that is really really getting into it.
losing the cat and stock dp will help you out a lot.

followed by a intake and chip. that will get you up and moving.

Hi Mike. Welcome to FTE.

The temp gauge on these things are only marginally more useful than an idiot light. I would guess that is it's normal spot for your truck. Thermostat is no more difficult to change on these than any other engine.

Completely stock you'll be lucky to see 17 psi boost. Most of them are in the 14-16 psi range running empty. Your truck has small injectors and a large turbine housing, so some turbo lag is to be expected. If the thing is a total dog there's probably something wrong with it......exhaust backpressure valve stuck partially closed or something.

When working on my fuel system I found that my hose clamps on my turbo down pipe y were loose tightened them up and more boost especially lower end.
