Locker????
I have never worked on a rear end of a truck, so I have a question, I want to put limited slip in my 2001 f250 SC long bed 2WD. I was think of going to a junk yard and getting a whole new back axle??? or How hard is it to did in a locker?? or will it be cheaper to just get the axle at a junk yard??

i myself have never done it but i think you will have to reset the backlash and pinion depth as well as maybe reshim it which you need specail tools for. i could be worng, like i sadi i never did it myself either.

if i were you i would invest in the tools to replace the diff yourself, if you can change a rear end you can replace a diff. any truck rear end youd find in a junkyard would have too many miles on it to trust. what id do is go out and get a full rebuild kit for your rear end, replace all the bearings, and then put in a detroit locker. summit part #DTL-225SL56A. all you really need is the patience to pull the diff out a couple times to replace shims when youve checked the clearances and ring gear marking pattern
