4.5" Backspacing Too Much?

The wheels that I want for my '85 F-150 2wd only come in either:

1.) 15x7" - 4.0" Backspacing

2.) 15x8" - 4.5" Backspacing

I like the way the 8" wheel better, but will that amount of backspacing put the tire too far into the fender and rub if I used 30" or 31" tires?

What rim backspacing would be ideal (not rub anything, but not stick way out like a skateboard either) for running 30" or 31" tires?

No one knows? Okay...well, can anyone tell me what the stock rim size and backspacing was for the XLT spoked rims for 1980 - 1986 (or 1996?) I know Ford offered different widths over the years, but the stock rim width and backspacing measurement should give me an idea of how far the rim tucked in or stuck out from the body.

my stock spoked rims on my 86 F-150 4x4 are 15 inch , 7.50 wide. and i dont know the backspacing.

but on the new rims you want...if your going with taller tires like the 30's or 31's i would space my rims outward as my 32" tsl super swampers rub the radius arms when i turn very sharp as at all.

I have a set of 18*9.5's with 5 inches of backspacing. It is a tad too much as the rims rub the sway bar under full lock turning.
