i got some bad cab corner rust on my 81, its made a hole into my cab and i took it to the body shop and they said the corners would have to be cut out and replaced. but they told me it would cost me 600 a corner is there any other way i could fix it ( not bondo it)??
buy the cab corners yourself and sandblast and replace them yourself aswell. your going to have to use some bondo to blend in your replacement panels. MarGlass is the best because it doesnt absorb moister and be sure to under coat the back sides of the new corners. Paint is probably the reason the price was so high, what color is your truck?... hard to match?
Ha! $1200. . .might as well just buy another truck
Since its non-structural, I would try one of the body panel adhesives out there if you don't have a welder. Cut out the rust and leave enough for a lip to glue the repair panel too. Treat the rust on the inside with some converter, follow the preparation required by the glue and have at it! Only draw back I can think of is the extra filler work involved, but easy of the repair should justify it
