I have a 1989 bronco II here (yay, new vehicle!) and the drivers side window has problems going up. you have to force it up alot while pushing the power button. Motor seems to be very strong, and from what I can see, it looks like a sliding mechanism is causing the problem, but i'm not sure. anyone had issues like this and know how to fix it?
I had a similar problem with the passenger's side power window on my '87. It wasn't a big deal until it wouldn't stay all the way up on it's own. Turned out to be the gear assembly that connects the motor to the window regulator. You can get the gear assembly at most parts stores for less than $30. You have to pull off the interior panel and remove 3 bolts that are a pain in the butt to get to. An option for this is to locate the bolt heads and try to eyeball a line-up with the interior metal and drill a large enough centered hole in the interior metal that will allow you to use a 1/4" drive socket to get to the bolts. I can't remember if it's just 2 or all 3 that you'll need to do this for, as I didn't drill the holes (thank God I'm slender enough to fit my hands in there, even if I had some war wounds on my hands and arms after it was all done!). Hope this helps.
would you by chance have a part number at a parts store, photo, or something showing that? tried looking on the truck but wasn't really seeing it.
edit:
is this it maybe?
partsamerica (checker, schucks, kragen) can be bad with photos sometimes, so I am not sure how accurate this is. I really don't want to know why there is a core charge also

It's inside the door, at the bottom. You have to pull the electric window motor out, and it is attached to it. It connects the motor to the window regulator. You'll have to get the window up enough to prop it up inside the door with something (piece of pvc pipe or whatever), then remove the interior door panel, and reach in through the large opening(s) toward the bottom of the door to locate the motor, etc. I can't remember if there is a removal/install procedure on autozone.com in their repair guides, let me see if I can find it....
If the page doesn't automatically come up, go to http://www.autozone.com/repair_info.htm, then choose your year, make, model vehicle, then go to the repair guides and go to body & trim.
