I just built the motor for my falcon and I am having a higher RPM vibration
(2500+ RPM) I am lead to think it is related to my timing. I got to poking around and I looked under the Distributor cap only to find @ TDC the rotor button was well past the #1 cylinder, nearly to the next fire postion (#5) I think I am getting some kind of crossfire action going on. I have been trying to line the rotor button up with the #1 Cylinder but no matter what I do the points always land on a flat, and not on a lobe. Is that correct? @ TDC Should the rotor button line up with #1 cylinder and the points be open? I have checked the damper with the #1 cylinder and they match up... I can't seem to wrap my small little pea brain around this stupid thing... Any suggtions would be help full...Thanks
If it's at higher RPM it might be fuel related. Check your pump pressure, 6-8 lbs. is what you're looking for. Stock 1 barrel carb? If you lined up the TDC on the damper and in the cylinder and you're sure, pull the distributor, and set the rotor right at number 1. Then turn the distributor a little bit towards the engine, advancing the timing. Don't forget you can turn the distributor and the rotor will stay in the same place. I'd say if you think it's timing, check everything timing wise all over again. =)
