blue cloud behind me?

now my truck smokes again i guess it always did just forgot. so now i get to rebuild her i guess. so hopefully i can get it done right.

it doesnt seem to be too bad but i can see the oil cloud in the mirror and at night if someone is behind me i can see it in their headlights.

i used the Rotella T 1.5 gallons (6 quarts) and 1.5 containers of STP oil treatment. os i still have some oil to add if it is ripping through it.

any ideas on what it could be besides rings? i replaced the valve seales and i know i have a valve guide that is a little loose on the pass. side but i cannot tell what side if not both are burning oil

It's probably bad rings. If it were the seals, you'd likely only notice it at startup or at idle; a lot of them would have to leak to notice it while driving.

yeah we changed all the valve seals some where melted and they were all hard like plastic.

ill have to abide with the oil cloud for now though until i can afford stuff from Tim ill just have to hold off and pick up a spare block to put everything in.

Yeah, mine got pretty hard to. I've only started replacing them (sneaking some wrenching in when I can), but I've already had to break one of them off. .. Too much fun!

The tree-huggers might not like your truck, but the burning oil isn't really gonna hurt anything. You'll get some excess oil residue in your combustion chamber, but nothing that can't be cleaned out later.

My Truck was burning a little oil driving normal and alot on hard acelleration. It turns out it was the intake valley pan not sealing well. There was a puddle of oil in the top of the valley pan.I used rtv on the valley pan and no oil burning every since.

Blue smoke on deceleration == Bad valve seals/guides.
Blue smoke on acceleration == Bad rings.

i used the 10w30 rotella. i used lucas in the past trying to decide which i like better stp or lucas. plus the added lubricity is nice

but now i have a steady drip coming from the motor gonna look tomorrow to see if it is the drain plug or rear main seal
