No G. they just have the holes where the Oil would shoot into the Center of the rocker Bushing (in the Oil slot) on the 2 piece bushing..

Mine my be a older or a newer version? I still havent found out what spring pressures Dougs rockers handle? I guess I should have called him friday? Oh well..

But I'am sure they will be fine at 500 on the nose...

Russ, those two piece rocker bushings sound like the same setup that FPP use with their roller tip rockers with a 3/16" gap in the center.
Word of caution, I ran FPP rockers 72K miles until the bushings had between .011" to .014" oval wear to a point where the top end was flooding and idle oil pressure was low.
I replaced the yellow brass bushings with bronze bushings from a bronze boat shaft, this lasted just over 90K with same problems but better with wear.
Second replacement used oillite bushings from the bearing supply, full length of rocker bored and reamed then cut a .050" wide and deep x 1/4" groove perpendicular to the shaft on the load side below the oil hole in the shaft.
Last time I checked with 117K miles use the clearances were holding at .003" on all rockers and the shafts looked like new.
All the above is with 427 spring pressures and a mild 428CJ cam.
I would rather rebush if needed than replace Dove rockers that run on aluminum, once worn feeding the trash can.
Have you seen what ss rockers do to a steel shaft, they gall up big time?

Are those shafts you have with end supports the same length as regular FE shafts?

Got a favor to ask, can you give me all the dimensions on those Herbert end stands, PM them to me?
I'm thinking why not make a set out of steel on the Bridgeport but add the slot under the bolt like the iron 427 LR stands, leave the end support as a reamed hole?
Thanks.....Carl.....

Merry Christmas Carl!!

Thanks for the info.....Yes these are FFP set-up...Made by the same guy...Doug up there in the San Jokin Valley!! LOL..

Yeah it wouldnt take anything to mill these out of square stock in a Mill..Probably what I 'll do for ya ..is make a print...and just mail it to ya if you want to turn out a set of your own....

And as far as mileage goes on these..I doubt if I'll ever put 50K on this build..Hell I have had the truck for 35 years..and only have 98k original on it!! LOL..

So with the big inch Motor in it... She'll only be driven on weekends..and parked during the winter months.. She'll only see the cruise ins and the track a few times a year.... But the Oil lite bushing sounds like and Idea...

Do you have any idea what spring pressures the rockers will handle? I need about 180 on the seat and about 500 on the nose...

Oh yeah Carl..and too answer your question about the length.. They should be the same length as stock..Because I know a few guys that run just the End stands on stock shafts to stop any shaft flex with larger cams... I would double check for you ..but as of right now I dont have a set of stock to double check them against..But I'am sure there standard size.....

First up what the hell you doing up at this hour son, I say son?
I'm up because of back pain.

That would be great to get those measurements, thanks Russ.
I bet with thick wall heavy duty shafts and the iron pincher 427 LR stands
alone they could take a lot of abuse without the ends breaking off.
The FPP rockers I have didn't cost that much 20 years ago, one of my better parts purchases back then. I hung around a Cobra shop back then and was offered 427 LR stands for $50, rear sump pickup $25 and a Sidewinder for $75, purchased all. Didn't have a use for a 427 blocks so passed on a couple, now that was flat azz stupid on my part.
Now you got me thinking on what spring pressure limits these rockers can handle. Is FPP still making these rockers?
Did you get their pushrods for their rockers?
I recall I had to enlarge a few pushrod holes for clearance.
On their solid spacers they give you a set of valve spring shims in different thickness to set all the rocker end clearances, a PITA to reclearance them after you have the shafts assembled.
By the way that rusty rat mess 427 block I had is up and running, new owner sunk over $1,400 in repairing it after he paid me $1500.
All lifter bores need to be bushed plus 5 cylinders sleeved, I made a grand out of it as it was too far gone for my taste.

Hey get ready to play Santa for the grand kids.

Merry Christmas

I need a nap.

Yeah Carl the wifes little **** Azz dog got me up to go out at 4am..She heard some deer out in the yard...so that was the end of my sleep...

So your right..LOL.. yeah I just set out the last of the gifts for the GrandKids...I'am suprised nobody else got up when I stubbed my toe!! I said some words I normally reserve for drinking time!! LOL..

If I could have forseen what the future would have brought on FE Parts...I would have loaded up when I left SoCal...I could have retired!!! LOL..

Well with the new build on a Sim..I had to detune it twice...on the cam..to drop the HP... I'am not sure what a crossbolted block will take? LOL.. But I dont want to be picking up chunks.....

MINE IS BIGGER!

Like I told the wife, "won't fit as i'm metric"

Well some day the 482" I want to build will be bigger than
your little 463" motor. Now I feel better and can sleep, ha ha.

What hp and tq number you shooting for on this motor?

On the 482 I came up with 602 tq and 451 hp with a BMEP
number maximum number of 188.

Have you checked into Betty Ford's Clinic, oops I mean checked
into the www.eDyno.com that was posted a while back?
You fill in your engine specs as well the thermostat temp
and it will come up with the octane required. Change the temp and it spits
out different octane numbers, kind of cool.
One thing I didn't see is a choice on iron and aluminum heads.

Man I need my nap, eyeballs feel like full of dirt.

No Carl I didnt see that? But I check into that site and see...I'am going to try and run 11.5 to 1 with aluminum heads....

I was shooting for 600hp and 600ftlbs of TQ.. But I'am about 100 over that right now...According to the EA3?? But I would be happy for a nice 650hp and 600lbs of Tq..that should get me into the 12's..LOL..

Ok Brother I'll let you get some shut eye!! I need some more coffee!!

Merry Christmas Carl and too your family !!

Well according to that Edyno...It comes up with close to what the EA3 does...at 11.5 to one and the cam I'll be using..It comes up with a DCR of 7.85 to 1..So thats good for 93 octane or better??

Between those numbers 11.5 and 7.85 DCR it sounds like a rather big cam.
What were the peak efficency numbers and vacuum numbers? Peak BMEP numbers? I bet Mr. C-6 will not like the vacuum signals.

I still have that fixation thing on those BMEP numbers as that's what we used along with F/A ratios, temps, humidity and barometric pressure running up 2800 Pratts on test stand.
I've had a reply with eDyno on this, I would like more information on this.
I asked eDyno if they would include numbers for both iron and aluminum heads in their math formulas.

Thats the smallest cam I have tried in the combo so far...that one there is the large Crane Hyd. Roller.. I dont want the Spring pressures of the solid roller..for the Cam I originally wanted to run was over 700 on the nose!

So with the 633/655" 300/308* I can get by with 480lbs on the nose and 150 on the seat... and Idle will only be about 3hg...So a pump will be in order...and at 6600rpm going thru the traps..intake restriction will only be .6hg under the carb.. so anything under 1.0 is good for max hp at max rpm..Other wise the motor is running out of breath..

Maybe I can talk Larry out of His Lenco?? Or a jerico? Or a Toploader? LOL.. Nap time for me now!! LOL Catcha later Carl..be good now!
