Hey everyone, havn't had time to really trouble shoot this yet being holidays and such so i am beong lazy and hoping someone has had this problem to pinpoint me to the trouble.. I installed a Brand new Holley Truck Avenger Carb on my truck, the trouble I am having is for starters.. hard starting but i think that is timing, the problem that bothers me is after i get truck started, and let the motor warm up for a bit, i kick my idle down and it drops to bout 800rpm which is fine but when i actually put a load like put it in gear and start to drive it increases in rpm and and goes to bout 13-15000 rpm, not sure why idle isn't staying down, figured choke might not be getting a full 12v which i will check tomorrow or some stuck linkage, the only linkage i have hooked up to carb though is my throttle cable, and when i checked that it didn't seem to bind and returned all the way...all other aspects of the carb work great.
For those about to ask, the carb is installed in a :
1986 Bronco...351w...c-6 automatic without kickdown leaver hooked up...weiand stealth intake...msd offroad ignition...msd blaster 2 coil...msd billet dist with vacume advance
Try adding another return spring. If the motor mounts are weak, the engine will raise up on the drivers side under a load and it could be pulling the cable enough to open the throttle.
