Wet miss problem

I get water down in the #6 spark plug and causes a miss when it rains hard. We've replaced the boot but it is doing it again, less than a year. It will dry out in the summer if you leave it set for awhile. It won't dry in the colder months. Is this an isolated problem? Can I put some RTV Blue around the boot? It is a '00 Flareside Sport with trailer tow package, 4.6 Auto Tornado and K&N filter. 90,000 mi, any suggestions? and yes it has COP

Here is something I run and may be helpfull to you.
On the spark plug install 2 greased #110 O rings on the plug porcilean, to take up the space between the plug body and the boot, to help seal from moisture. These won't interfere with a plug socket except possibly the rubber cushion in one.
On the top of the boot where the two thin sealing edges are, grease up a # 10 O ring and install in the space between the sealing ridges.
When you install the cop/boot give it a small easy twisting motion so the boot has the best chance of entering the head and sealing as you can't see what happens.
Last, find that leak!
The rings are found at Sears hardware or any place that has them. The numbers are an industry standard #. You will see how well they fit when you do it.
Good luck and let me know how it goes and if it helps.. Your the first I told about this.

Where is the water coming from? A bad hood seal? It shouldn't get wet no matter how hard it rains.

Mine is 2 wheel and has the 17" factory tires. I always thought it was coming up from under. It has to be raining hard and very windy and I have to be driving into the wind before it does it. It's all wet when I open the hood.

I have worked on alot of the engines with the same problem. The problem is a bad design flaw with the plug wires what I do when this has happened is take the wire out dry the hole out to begin with I use compressed air and blow out the water. Then remove the spark plug and dry it off, dry the plug wire and then put grease around the top where it seals when you put it back in (Make sure you dry all the components completely before putting them back in because it will cause moisture back in the hole again). I had this same problem and this is what I did and I havent had any problems out of it since.
