08 Is it worth it?

ok with all the speculation on the new 2008 superdutys, is it worth getting one as soon as they come out? Ive heard wait toll 2010 to let them fix the problems. I have a 2005 now and cant wait till the 2008 comes out, i was going to order one as soon as i could. I have heard that they are going to cost a little more money. About 2000 to 3000 more than a older truck. Also i have heard that they are going to have some new colors in the 2008 fords. A black King ranch. They are going to have more king ranch colors. So what do you think get the 08 asap or wait it out a while

I think it is a roll of the dice no matter which you choose..

Usually there are bugs in first year motors and vehicles, but you could be lucky..

I think the success of a long lasting diesel is in how you maintain it and use it..

If you can't wait then try holding out for later in the year, don't be the first in case there are issues.

I think it will be good the first year. Ford can afFord to have a repeat of the 6.0.
Plus from reading in these forums it seems that they have been testing it a while now.

Will the new truck make you more money offer a better return on your money than the stock market? Is your current truck costing you more to maintain a month than the new one will cost in payments and financing?

They have been testing the motors since april, So I sure hope they got the bugs worked out in that much time, I think they will be pretty damn good, It wont be like the 03 6.0s where we the customers got to do the first testing...

Ford tested the 6.0 for almost a year before releasing it to the public. I purchased the very first one on the lot in my area. Read my lips I will never buy the first year truck again. They eventually got everything right but no matter how well they test them they are not real world testing. When ever they come out with new designs there will be issues, just let them work out the kinks and then buy one. One other thing that usually happens is that after a few years they will bump up the HP and TQ output on them to keep up with the Competition. We are at a crossroad with the new low emission diesels and it is any ones guess as to how it will turn out. There are many more 2003 6.0 that have had no issues than those that have had them but I will never gamble on a $50-60k truck again...... I will wait several years for them to perfect this engine befor taking the plunge again....

Good luck whatever your decision!!!!!!!!!!

There is no way I'd buy an early 08, or maybe an 08 at all. Think about it-Brand new engine, brand new emission system, brand new body, brand new interior. It's all new.

Definitely wait for 09 unless you've got 50K+ just burning a hole in your pocket.

To call the 2008 "all-new" is akin to calling Ron Jeremy "hardly used".....

New diesel motor with the associated emissions crap. The interior and exterior changes are cosmetic. The rolling gear (with the above noted exception) is the same as the 2005-2007's.

I'm sure that there is a ton of new wiring. Plus a whole new way to put it all together. Make for a lot of new ways to screw up.

re

We just paid off the King Ranch we bought in the slaughter of the summer of 2005. Now we have two 2005 Super diesels paid for. We could not be happier, no more monthly payments and we did not give a fortune for either truck.

The payment on a 55 K truck at zero percent interest rate for the maximum of loan years is staggering. That is why I won't do a 2008. Besides, the grill and headlights on the 2008 do not look as nice as the 2005 - 2007 trucks and the engine, well I bought a 2003 6.0 . Let us see the buyers of the 2008 try to get rid of thier trucks when they are done with them.

I have an 05 right now and I'm going to wait. I figure by the time I'm ready for a new one the 6.4 will either run flawless or have been replaced
