UL37, Welcome to FTE & the 61-66 F Series truck Forum Page. The Nations Information Ford Truck Stop, as our Moderator likes to call it.
As for aftermarket set up "brake kit" you are referring to my question would be; "why would I want to use an aftermarket made up, Kit, using mostly GM-Delco Brake parts & components to adapt a conglomeration of non Ford parts on my ford truck?"
Non DOT Approved brackets the company makes to adapt GM-Delco Calipers to FoMoCo spindles is why you don't need to change them, but you have to change everything else, and you'll change it all to the "Brand X" system too, Including the rotors with the smaller GM Wheel Bolt Pattern they advertise!
I'd not change the style or brand of my brakes with a kit, Especially if I can use Ford specification, Wagner Made (under contract to Ford) brake parts & components from Ford trucks from 1973 thru 1979, that simply bolt in place!
I mean upgrading 1965 & later F Series Ford trucks to better disc brakes or power disc brakes is niether rare nor problematic. We've been doing it for over 30 years now. . . . We don't spend upwards of $500, plus S&H, doing it & don't end up with Chevy style Calipers & some "One Off" Specialty Manufactured Rotors either.
I understand some folks like to buy the latest trick stuff, but it ought to be better than what is ordinarily available in the open market of the Ford Truck Field. There are plenty of posts and a few great articles on this easy & critical brake system upgrade right here in the FTE archives. . . .
If am failing to understand something please let me know what it is will you?
Best Holiday Wishes to you

i have been looking in my neck of the woods for a truck i could snipe the brakes out of but could not score one for a reasonable price as of yet.came across this kit on one of my searches and it seamed reasonable priced if you figure in the cost of junckyard parts then the cost of replacing some or most of the brake parts.it was just a thought or maybe another option.
I've run into the same issue trying to find a mid to late 70s parts truck. I like the idea of having a kit available as an option. My preferred way to upgrade would be all Ford. However, it's good to see that after-markets are providing options. It tells us that our trucks are gaining popularity
Have you fellows looked at buying an old donor off the street, out of someone's back yard or the like. The truck can be wrecked, engine blown, tranny blown, etc. I have picked up several that way, I have parted them out and my brake upgrades didn't cost me anything in money, because I sold parts that I didn't need for more than I paid for the truck.
when ever i drive in different nieghborhoods i always look in yards for the unwanted toys.but alas on long island most of the toys have aready been striped and crushed all because their afraid of the towns sending a sumons or they don't want the nieghbors to complain about what your yard looks like. Happy holidays the kids are starting to get up.
