Earthquakes

We have had 3 earthquakes in my area app 8 miles away, 12-20 @3.7, 12-22 3.7 and this morning 12-23 @3.5.
TigerDan; almost the same quake this morning up your area, a micro quake @ 1.3. Your also in an active area.
Seems like California is wanting to break away from the country to become an island with Hawaii.

San Francisco bay area, across the bay east side on the island of Alameda.
The last 3 quakes have been from the same spot, 2 miles ESE of Berkeley (Peoples Republic). and 6 miles down.

I used to live at the top of Dwight Ave in Berzerkeley, and the Hayward Fault ran across our front yard. I lived in the 3rd floor observation room of an old victorian house, and boy did that old girl creak and groan whenever the ground twitched, sometimes from the cold contracting the earth. Great view of the Bay, the Gate and out to the Farallons though.

Lessee, 2 miles east puts it over by Lafayette, right? Seems to me I recall there's some old extinct volcanoes over in those hills...

The Hayward fault is the one they think is gonna go off in a big way soon, 7-8 on the richter scale. Those 3.7's are just mother earth's way of reminding you to store some batteries, food and water...and ammo. I don't want to think of the kind of refugees that will be coming out of the East Bay after a big one.

Have the USGS guys decided yet if those tremors are more buildup, or taking stress off the fault?

I'll take a bunch of little quakes than the big whopper any day.
Now what's wrong with the "Peoples Republic"?
I enjoyed working construction at the campus, a free freak show every day.

Autoglass your up late, waiting for Santa with your shotgun?

Heard about them earthquakes in the Bay Area.

Hear they're pretty scary; especially when they hit anything above 6.0.

Glad I live in an earthquake free zone.

As for Arnold............................................ ......never mind.

Did you guys see "CARS" Ole Arnie was pretty good impersonation! A HUMMER!

The closest I've ever been to an earthquake,
Was in Las Vegas, King 8 Truckstop when the Morton Thiacol Plant blew up. Worst thing was,, I was to be loading from the Kidd Marshmellow plant next door the next morning! The load was for the Kroger Grocery co. in Louisville,Ky.,,, A LOAD GOING HOME! BOOM! GONE! BUMMER!

quakes

Once a month, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune publishes a map from the USGS with the number and location of CA quakes. Average number is 25-30 and most are 3 and below. Parkfield area is the most active.

Hey in about 10,000 years you will have a LA/Oakland and SF will be an island as the Pacific Plate is moving to the north. Also Please do no let the water into Arizona, because we know what happens in a bowl.
