Interesting observation while on vacation

I just returned from a cruise which included a stop in Saint Thomas. As we exited the ship I noticed modified F350's Crew Cabs (4 covered bench seats in the bed with steps cut into one side of the bed) being utilized as taxis for people going into the city. The 2 sitting at the port all had V10's. I thought well that is interesting. As we ventured downtown I must have seen 50 different taxis with probable 45 of them all V10. I was impressed with the power climbing fairly step hills with 20 people inside. The cab drivers said they like them a lot and the have great power for the application. Just thought I would share my enthusiasm to see so many V10's represented in one place.

You got pics?

Were the other 5 diesels or V8 gassers?

Maybe the popularity of the V10 is because one of the largest petroleum refineries in the world is located in St. Croix. Who knows?

I'm guessing this is an open-bed setup with the seats open to the air?

Guess why they want gas vehicles with the huge cat, and near-zero HC emissions?

I'd say the real reason is the cost factor. Cheaper to buy. Another reason is probably weight. Gassers are lighter by about 400 lbs. That 2 more tourists maybe 3 or 4...

The other five consisted of 3 V8's and 2 6.0 diesels. Krewat, you are right it is a open bed set up with seats. I have a picture saved as a jpg. Any suggestions on how to include it in a post?

You might not be able to attach it if you are not a supporter or a member for a certain amount of time.

Email it to me. krewat@optonline.net

I'll put it up somewhere.
