Gages

I have a 2004 F150 STX 4X4. It has the standard gages with no tach. I would like to up grade the dash. If I put in a new set of gages from a XLT will the wiring just hook up and the tach work?

i've been wanting to do that also and from what people who have done it and from what i have read it will work BUT* you have to get it reprogrammed at the dealership which some do it for cheaper but the average cost i got was it'd be about 150-200 to reprogram it, seems a little high to reprogram something, but maybe someone else can clarify.
