the first number stands for the year (1 in your case); 7H=6 cyl.(8R=8 cyl.) C= 1/2 ton (Y=3/4 ton, T= 1 ton)> The last six digits tells you the production sequence.

If your 51 was assembled after Sept 15, '51 then your vin will appear something like follows: F1R1RH123456 Vin number should be stamped on top of the passenger frame rail between the radiator mount and the motormount bracket. - tim
