code 45 any sugestions on fixing
Check engine light came on last week so I took my code reader and scanned it. Got a code 45 Ther air flow upstream at idle. What does this mean and what could cause it. Please help I'M STUMMPED

More info would be helpful - year, motor, transmission, symptoms, mileage, etc.

1988 f150 302 5 speed. 90,000 miles on motor. It has a rough idle some times when warmed up and spark knocks under load, surges in 5th gear when pulling a grade. When the ck engine light came on thats the code I got. All sensors had been changed with new ones. fresh tune up.

If you are getting spark knocks ... engine knocks ... either the timing is too far advanced or the timing is too far advanced for the fuel you are using.

You've replaced *all* the sensors? That must have cost you a big chunk of change. Where did you get the replacements? I wouldn't buy sensors from autozone, only Ford.

According to my Haynes .... a Code 45 could be a Coil also. Not very helpful is it.

havent replaced coil yet may try that next Idont think they are that expensive. Some of the sensors are from auto zone and some are from advance auto.
