HELP!! poor college,f150 intermitting running condition
1992 f150 4.9 4*4 about 60,000 miles. took one cat off installed 3in pipe and flowmaster(i know 2 big but its all i had at the time) k&n airfilter, 33/12.50 tires
k here's whats happening. the truck starts up fine and runs fine for a while. then it seems like it cuts down to 5 cylinders and my engine light comes on and sometimes the rear abs light too. then for somereason it'll fix itself and run fine for alittle while. also sometimes when this happens when i try to give it gass it seems like no gas gets to the cylinders and it drops down to idle, as soon as i take my foot off of the pedle the rpm shoots up to about 2 grand for a second and then drops back down to idle. i can smell gas to when this happens too.
the only thing i can think of that would cause this is my ignition system getting wet. my watter pump recently went on me and leaked like crazzy. i had to drive it like this for a few miles to get back home. i put a new one on as well as a new fan clutch and i know that its not leaking. could the old pump leaking have gotten something wet and caused it to short out?
as i said im a college student (motorcycle mechanics ins. in FL.) so as you can probubly guss im **** poor. also i have no idea whats going on with my truck, thanks for all the help
