Beefin up a tranny?
I have a 92 F150, 5.0L, auto tranny. If I were to take this tranny to a tranny shop is there anything they can do to beef it up a bit? Or am I better off to replace it with different trranny? And what would be compatible? Another question what is the ID of this tranny? I know jeeps, new to this truck thing. I know jeep tranny designations are like AX-5, AX-15 and so on. What is this one?
Thanks in advance.

A couple of things I would recommend is a deeper/aluminum pan, and a shift kit or valve body (if you don't mind firm shifts). Synthetic trans oil works well for all applications (especially for extreme conditions), but in most cases, the manufacturers recommendations will be fine for a daily driver.
give us a phone call as there are lots of parts to beef your unit up to nearly blow proof that we have in stock along with some manuals that would allow you to do almost the whole job your self.
i say almost as reworking the valve body is some thing i would let a good shop do. as it may have worn bores that need to be reamed out over size and the cost of the special tools would be way to much for a normal 1 time use.
good luck with your project truck.
