speedo cable leak

speedo cable leak
i have a 93 ranger 2.3l 5 speed i just noticed that the speedo cable has been leaking. i replaced the o ring that was in the transmission and it is still leaking.
i have no clue how long it has been leaking or how much "juice" it has leaked, i assume that it is transmission fluid and i dont know where to check that. any help would be great thanks ---Sully---

Are you sure it's the speedo cable?
These trannies are very prone to leaking from the shift rail plugs, up on top. I can't remember the exact relationship between the plugs and speedo cable, but I'd take a good hard look with the notion that the oil may be coming down from above.
