works fine but has a weird sound that's coming from the trans. it only makes this sound when slowing down, it makes the same sound in neutral or drive. sounds like a power steering pump that's dried up. (power steering works fine on this car). the sound isn't there while accelerating or at rest.
Sounds like a pump problem but I cant be 100% on that.
Could also be the forward clutch drum starting to go. I had a 96 that started doing something similar, 2 shops told me a rebuild was in order so I just traded it in.
do NOT flush the trans, just get it drained... New filter (NOT fram), and use a synthetic trans (mobile one, royal purple... ect ect). Might just save it... Might not, the AXOD sucks
Dont trust any tranny shop utill you have serviced the tranny with new fluid and filter and a can of Kand W or simular additive.Alot of time this will fix the problem and avoid the very costly 1500 bucks or more tranny overhaul. I had a so called reputable shop say I had to have a new tranny once when the only problem was the downshift cable had a 2 dollar plastic clip broken.......
