Rear axle

Hey. I just stumbled across a ford 9" on the internet for sale. I'll be slinging this under my Jeep.
The ad says it's out of a 1982 Ford f150. I was under the understanding that 9 inchers were only under the f100's and broncos as far as truck chassis. Just some info I wanted. If my understanding is wrong, what should the WMS to WMS be on this axle? How strong is the housing? Should it have the nodular iron centersection? Is it deffinately a 31 spline, big bearing model? If it's not a 31 spline, big bearing, how can I tell without cracking the case?

I'll be pairing this axle up with a Ford F-250 hi pinion dana 44 out of a 78 f-250. I'll be running flat top knuckles out of a FSJ and the rotors and hubs off a newer f-150.

Thanks for any and all info and I'll keep y'all updated on my preogress if you want me to.

Nine inch rear ends were under F100's, F150's and Bronco's. As far as I know, the only way to know what spline it is is to slide the axle out and count. Somebody else may know by year. The housings are very strong. It is pretty much the same thing that NASCAR uses today.
