Dana 44 IFS (Independent Fr on Suspension) available on Bronco and F150 is REVERSE ROTATION compared to standard rear axle.

You should use axle ratios with less than 0.1 difference, I mean; if rear is 3.55 you can use anything between 3.50 to 3.59, higher differences can be use only on sand, mud or so...

Maybe http://www.drivetrain.com/dana44.html

To answer to the best of my limited knowledge and language skills. The so called reverse rotation as you guys are putting it, aren't reverse rotation at all. They are cut differently because if they didn't cut them backwards so to speak they would be driving on the weak part of the gear; the coast side. Instead they drive on the drive side - the strong side of the gear. As far as I know, that is the difference.

There is no such thing as reverse rotation. They rotate exactly the same direction as any other Ford front axle.

What you mean is reverse spiral - and yes, they are reverse spiral.

Someone also asked about my tire size. Right now it has 31's on it, but I had the stock 235/75R15's on it for a while too.

As you said "... as any other Ford FRONT AXEL..." Yes your are right, BUT we are comparing Front Vs. Rear axle.

Some people use the expression "Reverse Rotation" just to explain the Rear and Front Axel ring and pinion are different.

You're right... my bad. I missed that when I was catching up on the thread.

Here's some good info on the Dana 44.
