I recently had a bearing failure in the rear diff on my 91 f150. It took out the pickup ring for the abs sensor on the top of the diff. How will that affect my truck, if I do not re-install the pickup ring. Is there a way to trick it or bypass it so it wont throw a light or cause issures. I really dont care if I have rear abs or not.
Doug
so are all the pick up rings the same or are they a different tooth for each application? Right now im running without and nothing really seems out of the ordinary

That sensor only controls the ABS.
Yes all of the rings are the same.
on the 91 and older it only controls the abs. Then on the 92 and newer it controls more. is that correct?
Yes, that is correct.
On 92 an newer its information is sent to the PSOM (Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module), CC (speed control) and the ABS module. The PSOM then uses the information to drive the speedometer and the odometer plus it then sends information on to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). The PCM uses this information to shift the transmission and set its oil pressure plus control the clutch in the torque converter.
Some 91 an older will use the information from the speed sensor on the transmission for also operating the transmission along with the CC.
