I am haveing a hard time finding 255-70r17 tires except for the stock ones. Doesnt bfg make any tires in this size? I know goodyear does but have heard too many bad things about them. If there arent many choices which size would be a good upgrade?

The stock tires on my 05 are 255/65R17. Tires in that size are rather limited as well. When time to replace mine, I think I'll go with a 265/65R17. That size is about .5" taller than my stock size (and about .5" shorter than the 255/70R17) and appears to have a better availability of manufacturers, including Toyo. Toyo makes that size (265/65R17) in both Open Country A/T and Open Country H/T. Found good prices on those, ~117.00 and ~108.00 respectively.
