I still noticed the noise after I locked the hubs (I posted last week) coming from the front center of the truck. Okay, here comes a dumb question...do you have to switch the truck into 4wd when the hubs are engaged? Any rate I assume it is a problem in the transfer case, am I going to keel over when I get the bill? Any guys in the Anchorge AK area know of a good shop that can fix it RIGHT.
I'm also having an issue with my power locks not working properly...is this a common problem?
NO. The truck is NOT in 4wd mode unless the switch is in 4Hi or 4Lo. Remember the transfer case needs to be engaged.
The purpose of having the 'Lock' feature for the ESOF hubs is so that if the ESOF 'Auto' does not work, then you can manually lock your hubs and still have 4wd. Also...if you are going to be off-roading (just as an example) and will be switching into and out of 4wd often.
The truck is not in 4X4 until you turn the **** on the dash to 4high or 4low. You can lock the hubs in manually and drive with it that way and the truck is only being driven by the rear wheels. When you turn the **** the hubs lock automatically and you are now being driven by all 4. DO NOT put the **** into 4low with the truck moving. Check the fluid levels in the axle and also the transfer case. If they are dirty change the fluids. There is a link in another section that deals with the door lock problem and the fix. Hope this helps. Tim
