Since the cold snap here in Northern California lately we've been in the high 20's and low 30's in the mornings. I know this is not cold to many of you but it seems cold for my truck. I have a heck of a time getting it started whan it's this cold. Choke is adjusted a little richer from the summer setting and it seems like I am not getting enough fuel to fire off when it's real cold. If I dribble some gas down the primaries it fires right up. I adjusted the accelerator pump for a little more of a shot when I pump the throttle but haven't tested it yet. Any other stuff to check. It turns over fine, and once it fires up runs normally. I know the owners manual says to step down to the floor to set the choke and fast idle cam but mine requires a little more fuel to kick over apparently. This has only developed since the temps have dropped. This is a Carter AFB by the way on a 460.
My truck is very similar to yours except it is Calif emissions, and has the Holley 4bbl carb. My choke does not work, and all I do to start it in the cold mornings is pump twice on the gas pedal. I live in Fresno, and the temps have been cold here too. Ice on the cars not parked under carports. Sounds like you have done everything there is to do in order to get it to start. I can't think of anything else to try. :-(
Try pumping it 5-6 times then try to start.
sounds to me like my 2v carb that leaks down and evaporates.
If I dump a few ounces of fuel in it ,it will light right up as well
On mine when its warm out I pump it 2x and it starts right up.when its cold I pump it 5x and starts right up.I have a manual choke on mine and it starts better pumping it 5x than using the choke. Then again it sits 1-2 weeks between drives.so it might be a little different than mine if you drive it every day.
