Help me figure out what FE I have. This is the first FE I have ever owned, and I don't know a whole lot about them. Ok the truck it's in is a 360 2bbl truck per the vin. BUT this motor has a 4bbl, and it appears to be a factory intake. What should I look for?
one of these guys will chime in and tell you what to look for but you def. cant rely on the vin# according to my vin i have a 360 2 bbl also but it is actually a 390 with a 4bbl stock intake from a 65 thunderbird....is there still a little aluminium tag on the intake where the coil bolts on? just wondering im sure most of those tags are gone by now but the one i got from the J\Y still had the tag and it says the year of the vehicle and the motor it came from originally....just a thought
It might still be a 360. It really isn't all that hard to swap a 4 barrel on a 360.
I think the easiest way is to check the stroke, assuming no tag.
3.5" = 352 or 360 (most likely 360 since that's what it came with)
3.784" = 390, 406 or 427 (most likely 390 since it's by far the most common)
3.984" = 410, or 428 (you're real lucky if it's 3.984")
