Talking New Job Jan. 2nd

I got the job in Maintenance at St Pauls hospital starting Jan. 2nd. No more security work and it stresses. They have become the smoking police now. Man doing that we get into a lot of arguments from both sides the non and smokers. Our Manager just keeps volunteering the security to do the job. They had commisionaires do it for two years. They could not keep those guys. Some made it a day one made it 6 months. The crap they go through trying to enforce a policy that is not a bylaw. No teeth and the guards are to figure out how to make it work. It just causing a lot of fighting between staff also. So 2 more weeks and I will not have to worry about the BS.
Just fixing broken equipment and monitor gauges and pumps and service them. Extra $200 a month helps and less stress. I'm sure looking forward to it.

Congrats Glen.
You will also be a little closer to home, probably cut off 15 minutes of travel each way.
Thanks for the update, that`s a nice and early Xmas bonus.

Right on, you'll shave a few minutes off your drive to work as well.

Had to work last 2 days at old job and 3 next week. Should of seem the face on the manager who is a BLank Blank.
Years ago when they needed Security supervisors when we expanded security to the other hospitals. I applied and his claim was I did not have enough experience to be a supervisor. At that time I had 18 years in security. He was putting his buddies into those jobs. Well anyways I was not the only one. 2 others were ahead of me in senority. We won our greivences and those other guys got the positions. Granted they were not in security as lomg as me.
Well since they got the jobs he has not tried to help them and just keeps dumping stuff on them to do. Stuff that is his job.
At work the fella there was the best man at my wedding and he asked for help on stuff. He had to leave the office for a bit. Shortly the manager came in and saw me. I was doing next years schedules and payrolls, E-mailing depts. about things that were going to happen in the next week or so. He never said anything just left.
Later people who work in other Depts came with problems and the manager was there. It was priceless when they first started to talk to him and turned to me to address the problem. I gave them the solution and method to carry it out and contacts to help. Then the manager complained to others that I was not wearing my security vest. These other people and fellow members of security told him to back of. He is only here for a few days and he is gone. He also being on back to work orders is not to engage in any conflict calls. He backed down with tail tucked.
I heard today he was stunned that I knew how to run the dept. and how the guys look up to me. This was told to me by someone from another dept that overheard him talikng to someone in Human resources.
Today had lots of people come and see me and wished me well at my new job. It felt good knowing that a lot of people have a lot of respect for me and stood up for me after what I went through the last 4 months. It felt really nice knowing this.
Him seeing me able to do the work he thought I could not do sure made him eat crow.
Sorry for my gloating, But I'm glad to get out of that job now and to something I really like to do.
Thanks guys for your Congradutions.
Oh by the way. You all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and Happy Fording in the New Year.
