New here! Hello!
Just wondered if anyone could help me with a problem with my 01 PSD. In the last week it has died twice under similar circumstances and with similar results.
First time my wife was sitting at our gate while my nephew opened it. She had her foot on the brake and plugged in her cell phone charger and the truck just shut off. She turned the key and it fired it right back up and ran fine.
Tonight I was driving it and stopped at a stop light an turned on my blinker and the truck died. Started right back up and ran just fine the rest of the night.
Never had any trouble with it before.
The truck is stock except for an x chip 60 HP, and a Kand N filter.
Been searching here and found some info on the CPS.
Would a power draw from blinkers or cell charger contribute to this?
When I got home I tried everything to get it to repeat but couldn't. Brakes and blinkers, high beams, fog lights, everything and no dice!
I agree with spunks, it sounds like a CPS starting to go south. My truck has done this from time to time, just die for no reason, usually when at idle. I would just get a spare CPS and throw it in the glove box with tools to change it, then you will be ready when it decides to die. And too, welcome to the best site for our trucks, these people on here are really full of knowledge. I have learned so much about my truck just from this site. Alot of fine people on here.

Yup, sounds like the dreaded CPS knomes have struck. I have followed the advice from this site and put 2 extra in my glove box, never know I may see a brother on the side of the road and be able to help out.
It may be the CPS, and if that does not cure it, there have been some steering column wiring shorts that have cause problems too. Since you should have a spare CPS anyway, I would get one and take it from there.
