Restoration Project?
Hi everyone.
I have just purchaesd a 1989 F-150 x- cab short box 4x4 w/ a 302 and a 5 speed tranny. I'm not real sure of the mileage ( speedo don't work ). It has some rust issues around the rear wheel wells & someone did some sanding on the paint. It is not real pretty but I do have a strong spare 302 for it. I would like to restore it because of the awesome mpg this truck gets (around 20 mpg fuel gauge inoperable), but I don't know how desireable a project this is & how available aftermarket goodies are for this body style. I would greatly appreciate any tips, pointers, advice etc.. that anybody has to offer. I will probably get pics posted in a day or two. This will be my first real rstoration project that I want to do on a fairly inexpensive budget. Thanx.

Im not 100% sure but i think there are quite a few aftermarket goodies and i think that would make a good restoration project i havent seen to many people restore a truck this new maybe older ones from early 80s 70's 60 and 50's and so on but not a 89 which is cool and different
As for the rust basically you cut all the effected area thats full of rust then weld in new pieces or you can sand down to or just replace it with rust free parts good luck and enjoy your truck
