The ninth vehicle identification number digit is a VIN accuracy check digit, verifying the previous VIN numbers. This is how the check digit works
I think it's going to be pretty slick when it's all ironed out.
I sent feedback a couple of days ago re: 49/50 and early 51 vins that all read "you have a 1949 model truck"

We have a few bugs still left to iron out. Ford's literature conflicts for some items, we have missing data for others, etc. VIN decoding can get quite complicated when you have one decoder that works for almost a 60 year spread!
Also, as time goes by it will expand to cover more lines. Ranger/Bronco data is limited in it, Econoline isn't covered yet, etc.

that was all well and good but it is still from 1981 on nothing for 1965. i typed mine in and it came back as invalid not enough digits. my vin no. isf25yra99961 the vin decoder on the site wants 17 digits.
