Engine cut out today
I have a 77 F-150 w/300 and a Carter 1bbl carb. This morning I was on my way into town. I usually coast down a small hill so that I'm going the speed limit when I reach the sign. Well, when I got to the top of the hill I took it out of gear (as usual) and let it coast. About the time I got to the bottom of the hill, I noticed the engine had cut out. After I pulled off the road and popped the hood I saw that there was gas all over the carb, on the outside and when I took off the air cleaner I saw that the inside of the carb was pretty well coated too. I drove 90 miles last night w/out any trouble. Before that, the truck really hadn't been driven any further than a few miles since august, but there were no problems before either. Any suggestions on what the problem is and how I can fix it? Thanks.
