I have a 76 F-150 with a freshly rebuilt 390 so of cource the cluth is brand new as well. i replaced the brass berring in the back of the block also.
I am noticing alot of cluch chatter in first and reverse. at first i thought maybe there was a little oil on the clutch or something but it has almost 600 miles on it now and it is not getting any better...infact after getting warmed up it seems to be getting worse...it doesnt do it every time but enough to raise concern...what could be causing this? any help appreciated
did you have the flywheel machined when you did the disc and pres. plate..if not the flywheel needs to be machined true.its kinda like a brake rotor, they will develope hard spots and become warped over time.
OK that makes sense but now another question...why only in first and reverse and it only does it from a complete stop it wont do it in first from a rolling start and it doesnt do it every time?....guess its back to the machine shop...thanks Tom
