Recently, my 1991 F250 7.3L has been acting kinda strange. After driving slow on gravel roads with the high beams on for a period of time, the lights will flicker off. I usually have to turn the lights off and stomp on the floor switch to get them to come back on. The first time this occured I thought nothing of it but now it has happened on 3 different occasions. Any ideas of what this could be? I don't want to be driving through some winding curves and have the lights kick off. I inspected the headlights and fuses and everything looks good. Maybe the dash or floor switch is going bad? That still doesn't explain why it only happens driving slow. Kinda scratching my head on this one, if you guys have any ideas of what this could be it would be very appreciated.
When the headlight switch went out on my old Bronco, the only time they would go off was when I was riding in the woods. Maybe lower voltage at lower RPMs causing the switch to overheat.
hmm...would that possibly be the floor switch or the dash switch? I can do the floor switch, that is a breeze but not so sure about the dash switch. How exaclty would I replace the dash switch? Well, replace without taking the whole dash apart I should say...
Its probably your floor switch dude, cause my high beems dont even work. This is kinda off topic, but is that ZF5 tranny of yours pretty good? What'd you pay for it?
Alright, I'll pull up the carpet and check the switch tomorrow. Agemenon, I love my ZF5, it shifts great and handles great for what I put it through. I wouldn't know how much it costs individually considering it came with my truck from the factory.
Oh really, cause I got a C6 that I wanna get rid of and put in a ZF5 because the rpm's to get up to 60mph is just insane....3000rpm doing about 55mph, its so retarded.
