Ignition Swithch problems?

I just bought a 1991 Full size bronco with 302. Here is the problem.... When i bought the truck the ignition was fine then this problem happened... I started the truck and then when i went to turn it off I turned the key and the cylinder turned fine but the truck did not stop... well i pulled the wire from the coil to stop it... Damn what a shock!!! LOL well it stopped and then i started it again and had to do the same thing!!! Ouch again! Well now it wont even start or turn over.... I think it is something in the steering column...i have already replaced the key switch and still no help.... What now... please help... wife is mad we now have a vehilce that does not work....

Well it depens on your truck model BUt basically, there is a metal rod betwen the key cilinder and the ignition switch. This rod is the link, so while you rotate the key, the ignition switch moves linear.

It seems to me there is a problem with that rod or even the ignition switch itself. Have those items checked beffore do any electrical diagnose.

Sounds like the ign actuator has broken. This is a little link between the key switch and the rod going to the electrical switch. The electrical switch is on top of the steering column under the dash. You may be able to reach the rod and push this by hand to operate the ign. Best bet is to pull the steering wheel and remove the column shroud and replace the actuator which costs about $6.00 from Ford.
