does our aero require 4 wheel or 2 wheel alignment? i've always asked for 2 wheel alignment, and the service tech always tells me i need 4 wheel alignment. the aero's rear axle is not adjustable... is it???
Not that I know of. Seems to me that they want to charge you extra for a service that isn't needed. I am not aware of any adjustments that need to or can be made on an Aero.
If you look at the the where the front pivot of the rear lower control arms are attached to the torque box, you will see that the bolts that go through the bushings have cam heads. This means that it is possible to move each bolt around in about a 1/2" circle. This can move the lower control arms for and aft about that much distance, changing the way the rear axle is pointed. But you normally don't need to do this, unless you ran the rear tires really hard against the curb or something like that.
4w alignment should be done or checked every 2nd alignment....makes rear end and front end travel in the same parallel lines, other wise the rear end can crab crawl to one side...
proper front/rear alignment reduces rolling resistance, tire wear and fuel used....also makes steering and handling more precise and stable
rear bushing do wear out and often only show up in f/r align.....then driver/owner says oh, that's why it was driving strange
usually the align. tech. only has to check front to rear align...
