53 - 55 Electrical

Were the 53 - 55 F100s positve or negative ground? I realize that they were 6 volt. I was trying to start a 55 that sat for a long time and assumed that it was positive ground. The starter started to crank slow after a bit, I'm wondering if it should have been hooked up the other way... I've been thinking that something is jammed in the centrifical enguagement.

My 55 F-100 I puchased in 76 had positive ground 6 Volt, and at that time it was Original.

53 - 55 Electrical

All Fords were positive ground and 6V until 1956. They then went to 12V and negative ground in 1956.
