Saw something really sad last night

Last night I was driving to work (I work nights) and got stuck in heavy traffic. I hurried up and called my job said I'd probably be a little bit late with the way the traffic looked. After slowly moving for about five to ten minutes I came upon what seemed like 20 Virginia State Police cars, all with their lights on. Just ahead of them was a motorcycle (one of those speedster ninja style bikes) and a bunch of troopers walking through the ditch searching with their flash lights. So I looked a little bit more and noticed that about 10 feet from the bike was the driver of that bike on the ground with a sheet over him or her.

I kind of brushed it off as just another biker traveling around 90 - 100 mph on the interstate weaving through traffic. We have a lot of young sailors around here who once they get in the Navy and to their duty station immedietly go out and buy one of these bikes. There was a story not so long ago in the Virginian Pilot about how the Navy is trying to curb deaths from young military members (basically) driving like idiots.

So I finally get to work and call my girlfriend to ask if she had heard anything about it. Evidently it was a hit and run, a grey/silver SUV hit the driver of the motorcycle got off on the exit ramp and just kept on going. I hope when they find the person who did this they throw the book at them.

If that person never gets caught. I hope their conscience kicks the crap outta them each and every day of their miserable life.

Just remember that Karma will get them in the end. This is also the reason why I no longer ride.

Thats starting to happen a lot around here. I hope they catch em.

I don't think they ever found out who killed that girl at Waterside a few years back. Hit her in the crosswalk, drug her down the road a few hundred feet and then took off. Sad sad times.

I think its terrible. Wish we had some way to monitor all traffic with cameras like those used in "google earth" then they could pull up the film and identify the criminals SUVs location

Maybe in the future every vehicle will have a 'black box' and 4 or more cameras recording to a hd in the box. I could see it, it wouldn't take much; some wire, a chip to process the video and a processor to write to the HD.

This kind of crap is going to keep up untill city and state governments come to an ugly conclusion: They need more cops on the road. Period.

Not cameras, not black boxes, not monitoring............COPS.

City and state governemnts are all the same. They're trying to turn law enforcement from something that COSTS money (due to putting people in jail that NEED to be in jail, Police on the streets, Cars, radios, etc), to something that turns a profit (Fine the offender and hope that he/she pulls their head out of their a#$). It doesn't work. People will continue to do what people do unless they get slapped.

You never hear about the governemts hiring more cops, but you DO hear about how there are more and more vehicles on the road. What does this equate to? Less police to police more vehicles.

And therefore there is usually no consequence what so ever if you feel like driving like an idiot.

What will it take to stop this. More police. Period.

I would think that hitting a motor cycle head on would do some excessive front end damage. Hopefully they find the Guy or Gal who did it, and lock em up.... Before christmas would be nice

GUNNER15,
1st, BAN every single A.C.L.U. NUT from practicing law! Then lets bring back a little WEST TEXAS JUSTICE! Charlie Daniels said it best!
A.C.L.U. Nut gives MORE RIGHTS TO THE CROOKS RATHER THAN THE VICTIMS!!

In TURKEY the police have the right to use their own judgement when they catch criminals. If the offense is bad enough and they are sure they have the right guy ,they can just go ahead and shoot him,,,and they often do. A friend lived there and one day he saw the cops chasing a bank robber, when they caught him they blew him away.........he didnt even have to be armed. Wonder if that would work here
