Hi My 04 exp just started having a problem where door adjar light stays on? I read and talked to friend so i tried spraying lub in latch. It gets even better when this happens, my auto lock button on only the driver door does not work and I also found that the mirriors will not work as I am fooling around with door scratching my head doom light goes off after about 15min if door left open or in this case (always thinks its open) well neway after doom light goes off DOOR LOCK NOW WORKS AND SO DOES MIRRORS but if i open a door all starts over only driver side door dies like this but comes back after doom light goes off?
Thanks for any help you can offer

By your description of the symptoms, I would be working on the driver mechanism.
I have found taking the lock out and submerging in A/T fluid (High detergent properties) over night, and air blasting makes the mechanism work like new....
Why would the latch not working and needing cleaned affect the mirrors and the lights. Is there a short in the wiring since everything does come back on and work after the dome light shuts off after 10 minutes?
Cant answer that one,
A while a go I had a no start situation, ended up being the relay feeding the ignition, but while in that condition the driver door window and lock would not work, as soon as I had a start the windows and door lock worked. There does not look like any connection according to the "FORD" wiring schematic.
I am experiencing a similar problem on a 2003 Expedition. The gauges sweep back and forth and are now stuck in the "extreme" position (120MPH, fuel gauge reads full regardless of how much fuel is in the tank, etc.). We have spent nearly $1,000 at the local Ford dealer having the door lock mechanisms changed, alternator replaced, battery replaced, etc. Dome lights, headlights, door locks, etc. are all affected. Their diagnostic tests all say everything is OK - there is a serious problem here. Something has caused some computer component to go wacko. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Hi wanted to update you guys on what was the problem ,, again this was a 2004
the wires inside the rubber boot that goes from door to car had a BROKEN wire inside which was causing the short spliced back together all is ok again thanks for the posts!!

seems most of thes circuits need a variable resitance to ground to register any reading other than full on. I would be looking for a stray short to ground.

My 2cents
The truck is going back to the dealer today - I will talk with them about looking for a stray short to ground. THANKS!
10-4. I just talked with the dealer. Of course, the truck started when the tow truck driver delivered it to the dealer. The dealer says he has his "best man" on the job - he suspects a water leak may have caused the short problem????
