Blend Door Issue

I have a 99 expediton EB 4x4...I have almost decided to pull the dash to replace the blend door but, I want to make sure of one variable before i jump in and it is...when i adjust the climate control i can hear and have seen the the blend door motor operate and i have conducted the climate control self diagnostic test and have no codes so i know the controls are okay but what puzzles me is...if it is cold outside, the truck blows cold air only. however, if it is warm outside it only blows hot air. So my question to the masses...could this be a vacuum related issue of some description or am i just tryin' to get out of pullin' the dash??? I should add...temp is fine, plenty of coolant, rear heat and a/c work just fine. 108k miles

Thanks in advance for helpin' me try everything before i pull my dash!!!!!!!!!!!

Well certainly you dont want to ASSUME the door is broken, and do the proper diagnostics. Check that the coolant level and flow is normal. Check the hoses and see that they are both hot with heat in full heat position. Watch the actuator and observe that it turns approx 1/4 turn from hot to cold AND YOU CAN HEAR A DEFINITE CHANGE IN THE SOUND OF THE AIRFLOW in the heater.

If you do not hear a change in the sound of the airflow when switching from hot to cold then it probably is a broken door.
