Hood Insulating Blanket
Hey guys, I would like to replace the hood insulating blanket on my 93 7.3 F250. On an other wise clean engine bay, the blanket looks like it has been drug behind the truck for the 180,000 miles on the truck. At this point I should probably call it a Curtain as you have to push it aside to see the air cleaner almost.Its one of those things that bugs the crap out you. I have tried most salvage yards and most I found looked worse or same as mine,or I even had a few yards tell me that "thats part of the hood and you have to buy the whole hood". I know you can go with a aftermarket or universal fit piece but I would like to get an original or repo blanket that is vacuum formed or whatever. anyone know if these are reproduced or not ?.Dont really want to pay $600.00 or whatever Ford would want if they still stocked them.Appreciaate,as always the help.

I never found one for mine so I bought a blanket from JC Whitney and cut it out myself,it's made out of the same material as the insulation they put in the space shuttles,cut down noise to at least 80%.I put some dabs of sealer under the hood and the blanket is glued to a perfect fit!

LMC Truck (www.lmctruck.com) has the molded blanket for 92-96 and a cut-to-fit one for other years. The molded one is not cheap. They also have the plastic retainer clips.

I've noticed this to be more of a problem on 93 and newer trucks. My 84 and 91 hoods are still intact, either Ford made them cheeper or the serpentine belts wack the hell out of them when they come apart.
