My wife just had a Line X put in for my Christmas present. She read my mind. The dealer said that because I had a ford plasitc liner that the tailgate might rattle until I replace the 6 ro 8 screws with screws without the spacers. On the way home I could hear something that sounded like wind noise, but can't figure out what it is. It must be the tailgate. Anyone else with this rattle, and did you have to switch the screws if you had the plastic liner. The tailgate closes a little harder now too, but I think the liner is great. Cant wait to use it. Thanks all, Levi
I left mine on, just had them spray right up to them.
Also, I would not let them drill holes in the front of the box, for water drainage, like some of the dealers like to do. They did drill mine and I plugged the holes with some grommets as I didn't want the water draining down onto the unpainted sheet metal under the box. Tough to un-ring that bell though.
Since then I've installed my Access Tonneau cover, so I guess it's a moot point now...
I have had Linex liners on several of my trucks and love 'em.
I'm getting this done next week, should I take off the plastic strip around the top of the bed first? How much did it cost?
I did nothing before having LineX installed. It appears that the dealer who did my install did take off the bed wall and tailgate caps to before applying the liner leaving no gaps in the coverage between the liner and caps.
I think if I read the question correctly the original poster stated he HAD a drop in liner previously. It was removed when the line-x was done. The dealer stated his tailgate may rattle a bit because of the longer screws used to attach the tailgate piece of the drop in liner UNTIL he gets shorter screws.

I think he is asking if anyone else had a problem and ended up replacing the screws.
elyrain here's what I had done: before spraying - bed bolts, rubber grommets, anchor points removed. Tailgate inside panel - removed, sprayed separately. Tailgate and truck rear sprayed to bottom, important as this is where it rusts. I know they didn't remove the bed caps, don't recall about the tailgate cap. You won't see any gaps if done right. Expect to pay around $500-600. I went with Rhino, but they are both good.

What he is referring to is when ford puts a plastic liner in the truck they use a screw that has a spacer so as not to pull the liner into the tailgate and leave dimples. I spoke with a ford dealer about this as I am a Line-X franchise owner. He said we should get the regular screws used for a tailgate without a factory liner when we install a Line-X liner. This way that spacer is not there and the tailgate panel tightens down properly. As for the drain holes no one should have to drill them out or anything. Line-X very rarely clogs drain holes because of how fast it sets up and doesn't run when sprayed. We just sprayed a new F150 which uses the gaps between the bed and bulkhead for drainage and they are all wide open. I appologize if I read any of the statements incorrectly.
