64 pigtails

Ok guys, sorry. I should have posted here a loooong time ago. Please forgive me for not asking and using ALL of the resources available.

I have a '64 and have had a heck of a time finding connectors. My "ole Girl" is bone stock, (bought her from the original owner. Oct. 1963) and I would like to keep her that way. The last things I need for final assembly are pigtails between the firewall. I can't find them anywhere. No one will return e-mails (vendors) Question is:

Where can I find connectors for my harness I am rebuilding that are correct for stock. Can I buy a harness from a different year and use the connectors? If so what years?

Thanks

What exactly are you looking for? Do you want new firewall plugs with short pigtail wires coming out so you can splice them into the old harness? Have you ever found a reproduction new harness?

You may be out of luck. What is wrong with what you have? You should be able to use a small pointed tool to release the metal contacts inside the plugs if you wanted to take the plugs completely apart and clean them up. There is also the remote possiblity you could take the wires out of the contacts and solder new wires in after you took them out of the plug.

Well, i agree those are possibilities. The insulation at the pigtail is dry rotted and the wires are exposed. There are options I have as a last resort. I build wiring harnesses daily in my business and diassembling these originals would almost be an effort in futility.

My biggest question is. '65, '66 or up; do they use the same style plugs. Could I purchase and aftermarket for a later year and modify the harness to make it "stock"?

I am not up on those model year trucks, but I would assume if they made something that was the same as on a 64, then they would sell the 64 harness too. I guess the sticky point here is originality. If you would want to get away from being strictly original, your options would open up.

I do not think I am telling you anything you don't know already. The only other possiblity is to go up to the correct year forum for your truck and ask those guys what your options are.

Sorry I could not help you more.

I have asked many, many, many times in my truck specific forum. I have resigned myself (as of 10pm last night) to just bite the bullet and go with a generic harness. Thanks for you input.
