I am a newbie looking at buying my first diesel to tow a fifth wheel for our family to vacation in. Been lurking on these boards to try and learn what to look for and what to avoid. I am very interested in a resale truck in my area and would greatly appreciate it if one of the techs would let me know if the vehicle I am looking at has been as trouble free as represented by the seller (a private party). He sounds like and honest man and says he has had it in for one recall item and fluid changes. Says it has always ran very well for him. The truck is an 06 F350 DRW Crew Cab 4x2 with 13,000 miles and the VIN is 1FTWW32P16EB64597. Thank you in advance to the techs in this forum for being so generous with your time and knowledge.
My search on this forum for "oasis" seemed to indicate that not all dealership service depts were willing to provide this help. Can I call a dealership with the VIN or would it be better to go in person? Thanks.
I'm not one to send out OASIS reports, but I'll tell you that it has no warranty service history whatsoever, but it states a sale mileage of 30586 which is probably a misprint. 2006 is generally a trouble-free model year, other than HPOP fittings, but there should be lots of warranty left for you to not have to worry about that.
The seller states that he bought the truck new here in the Phoenix area in December 05 and that he has a CarFax certification which confirms that odo mileage is real. I don't see how the "sale" mileage could show up as anything other than a few miles for test drives. So the mileage must be a misprint. Are these type of misprints for sale mileage somewhat common for a brand new truck sale? Any reason for me to suspicious? Assuming the mileage is a misprint and without you sending out the actual Oasis report, it seems that you have confirmed what the seller has told me -- that the vehicle has a clean history. Thank you for your help and any additional comments.
