HEUI is the injection system used on the Power Stroke engine which is also called Direct Injection Turbo (DIT). All Power Stroke engines were equipped with a turbo.
They are also electronically controlled by a computer, fly by wire. The throttle pedal is attached to a rheostat that tells the computer to tell the engine you want to go faster. To get more power, you reprogram the computer with a chip.
IDI - InDirect Injection the fuel is sprayed into a precombustion chamber which spreads into the cylinder area. The IDI is mechanically controlled and has a throttle cable that attaches the throttle pedal to the injection pump. To get more power, you add air and adjust the IP.
In 94 there were three 7.3 engines available.
The 7.3 NA IDI.
The 7.3 turbo IDI
The 7.3 DIT Power Stroke
