Turbo Problems
Well finally the dealership told me what the problem with my truck was. They said that the turbo was out they really didn't explain how it went out so that's why I am here to ask. What would make the turbo on a 2004 with 114000 miles go out.

I have had 2 replaced under warranty and 1 was done the next day and 1 took 2 days. I asked what that would cost if I had to pay for it and was told about $3K. Think that might be too high.

Does the truck sit for weeks with out being driven? My '03 only has 19.6K on it and after the last turbo replacement I was told to drive it more because the turbo vanes rust/seize when they sit. Ford hotline told the tech that "I should drive it like I stole it". That said ,I do get on it to free up any rust or soot in the turbo and I am driving it more than in the past. Also the latest flash cycles the turbo vanes to help prevent them from seizing. I also have pulled the plug on the EGR and feel that cuts down on the soot going through the turbo. Seems to run better and have seen an increase in mileage even with winter fuel. Maybe the techs can add to this when they get off of work. They are the experts that make this site great.
