I put the Bosch system in mine back in 1980.They were $115.00 at that time. I saw them in Canadian Tire for $89.95
H4 bulbs 80w/100w
I will be doing the upgrading relay system this spring.
The pattern of light is most important.
The Bosch have this pattern
___/ ____/
Most others are like this which wastes light

A couple years ago I put in a pair of Silvania Silver Stars. <shrug>
Don't know anything about them really, just whiter than their other round, halogen sealed beams.
That pattern is cool Dennis unless the frontage road goes along next to the freeway. Both been bothered-by and bothered-others in that situation with ordinary low beams.

What does this headlight upgrade kit consist of? These prices seem high if it's for a couple of headlights, but I have to admit I don't know much about this subject.
I got a set of tri-bar red dot headlight conversions with bulbs off of eBay for $70.00 plus freight. Man, they are so much better then the originals there is absolutely no compaison.... Just some of the cops don't like the red dots, so being the law abiding guy that I am I ordered a set of blue dots!!!!!!!
I installed the headlight relay upgrade, listed at this FTE Article section.
Run heavier guage wiring, install relays, and fuse panel.
It made a big difference in the headlight brightness.
Also the parking lights are brighter because they have more electrical power, due to the headlight system not running the headlights, and they are now on their seperate system.
Here a picture of the headlight relay system (aka blaster pack) - https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...132496&width=0
I ran extra ground wires thru out the engine, frame, and body.
This also helps all the electronics.
Boltgunner, here is an informative thread - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...ght=head+light .
I heard the same thing about those aftermarket bright head lights, they burn out quickly and they are expensive.
I found the ground straps at the pick n pull. They use these straps on the 88-97 years ford trucks in the engine compartments.

Wow, cool wiring! What is this relay deal all about anyway?
Ford in their infinite wisdom runs full power to the headlights thru the headlight switch.... This causes the circuit breaker to heat up and eventually cause flickering headlights.
GM uses the relay system:
with this system: power from the headlight switch trips the relay so
full-power from the Battery powers the headlights instead.
Volvo uses it and many other car companies.
It's the only way to go as your headlights efficiency rises as well.
Thus..... Brighter Brights
Bosch Hedlights pattern can be seen here...1/2 way down page.
Use fuses for the brights but use a circuit breaker for the low beams. You never want to be out of headlights because of a blown fuse. That is why the headlight switch has a circuit breaker.
